The Markdown editor
The Markdown Editor uses Markdown formatting, a short-hand syntax that styles text, and then converts that text to HTML, to create documents.
For a list of basic Markdown commands, see Markdown Basics.
The WYSIWYG editor
WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) is a text editor that allows you to view content exactly as it will appear on a finished product, in this case, your knowledge base.
Unlike the Markdown editor, the WYSIWYG editor makes use of a single editing pane, since the content being written is already in preview mode. Using the WYSIWYG editor will feel similar to using a word processing application, in fact you can copy and paste content directly from a Word document
